Big changes came for the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®. This includes more ways to earn airline miles and travel credits. No existing card benefits disappeared, but the annual fee increased. This is likely due to the increase in fee for Admirals Club lounge access. However, there is an exciting bonus to be earned that can help.

New Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® cardholders can earn 70,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after spending $7,000 within the first 3 months of account opening. Plus, enjoy a complimentary Admirals Club® membership (a value of up to $850).

The various changes went into effect on July 23, 2023. Here are a few key items to know of and how the fee increase can be offset.

AAdvantage Executive World Elite Changes: Admirals Club Lounge Access Remains Intact

The primary cardholder and authorized users will continue to have complimentary access to Admirals Club. Cardholders can bring their immediate family or up to 2 guests per visit.

This benefit alone is worth the card’s annual fee. American Airlines values the membership at $650. However, top-tier access is soon increasing to $850 for lounge access. So, having the Citi/AAdvantage Executive becomes even more valuable.

The airline also recently announced that Admirals Club lounges across the network will have:

  • Enhanced food offerings
  • Expanded complimentary drink menus
  • Redesigned locations

You may still decide to purchase a membership to have access to more partner lounges. However, access to Admirals Club is more than sufficient for most cardholders.
