Learning how to redeem IHG Rewards points can be very valuable. Taking advantage of bonus points is one of my favorite things to do, and that’s been easy lately with all the recent hotel card offers.
For example, you can take advantage of the bonus on the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card. New IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card cardholderholders can earn 140,000 Bonus Points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
The annual fee is $99.
Redeeming IHG Points
With IHG Rewards being valuable, you really want to redeem them wisely. This may take a little work on your part, but it is well worth it, and doing your homework for this is really a lot of fun too.
What you really want to focus on is using the least amount of points that you can for the most value. IHG has properties that range from Holiday Inn to Intercontinental so there’s a property for everyone. All that to say here is how you can redeem IHG Rewards Points.
IHG Reward Chart
Unfortunately, IHG no longer publishes its Reward Night chart. However, according to IHG’s website, Reward Nights start at 5,000 points. Their chain has a worldwide footprint, so no matter where you travel there should be an IHG hotel to consider. And you can also use your IHG Points + Cash to make a booking.
It’s also worth mentioning that the IHG Rewards program is a transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards®. So you can top off your IHG account if you hold an Ink card or Chase Sapphire Card.
Examples of Awesome Destinations
For instance, one option to consider is Candlewood Suites in Mobile, Alabama. It is close to all the attractions, and you can enjoy a studio suite that comes with a kitchen. This is a great way to capitalize on your points and allows you to save money from having to eat out all the time if you want to buy groceries and cook. To each their own.
International Destinations
If you want to enjoy what Canada has to offer, then there are also some great hotels to choose from. A popular one is the Staybridge Hotel in Hamilton, Ontario. If you are into history, there are some great landmarks to see here. The Hotel itself is beautiful, and you have the choice of a studio suite or one bedroom.
If you are looking for some real adventure or a classier experience, then you will want to look at some of the Intercontinental Hotels that IHG has on their list of properties. If Mexico is a destination that you have chosen, then you may want to choose the Intercontinental Presidente Cozumel Resort & Spa. No matter whether you are a couple looking for a romantic getaway or you are taking the kids with you, this hotel is well worth spending your points on. You will get a pool view room. It is also right on the beach, so it doesn’t get any better than this.
It may be that you really want to be extravagant and pamper yourself with your points, which means you are going to want to have some points saved up. Here you may want to choose the Intercontinental San Juan Resort and Casino. Of course, you are going to want more than a one-night stay, and we are talking about putting your points to the best use.
Making the IHG Rewards Redemption a Family Affair
One of the greatest ways of making good use of your points is when the whole family gets to enjoy the benefits they can bring. This means a family vacation that is kid-friendly. It doesn’t mean that you need to leave the country either to do this.
A favorite of many is the kid-friendly activities to be enjoyed in San Diego. The highlights of this vacation will be the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park. For some water fun, the kids might like to get involved in some surfing lessons. Of course, you want to use your points to pay for your hotel. There are lots of choices in quality IHG hotels in San Diego like the Holiday Inn Express Downtown.
There’s also the Kimpton Alma San Diego if you’ve got older kids and want something a bit fancier.
Closing Thoughts
Only you can decide how you would like to redeem your IHG Rewards points when taking some time away from home, but you have options with your IHG points. To help you earn the most points, use one of the IHG cards, including:
