Earlier this week, Delta Air Lines hosted a virtual event with the airlines’ partners “to unpack what travel looks like today and ensure you have all the information you need if you decide to travel for the holidays, or whenever your next trip may be.”
RELATED: Best Face Masks for Flying During COVID-19
The part I found most interesting and that made me immediately surf over to Amazon was when, at 48 minutes in, Dr. Carlos Del Rio from Emory University said he travels a lot and that there are two times during the travel process that he worries about most: Boarding and deplaning. He says that wearing just a mask is safe (make sure it covers your nose) during the flight but when the plane is parked, there’s not a lot of air circulation and people are moving around. That’s when he likes to wear either goggles or a face shield, as well as his face mask, because it protects him and others from airborne particles. He also said that if everyone wears masks, then the chance of getting COVID-19 are very slim and recent studies (you can learn about them here) have backed them up.
Of course, I immediately ordered a pair of goggles and they’re now in my carry-on bag because I don’t want to take any chances. They were $10 and I figured that once this virus is over, I can use them for outdoor work or if I’m building something with my son, Jack. Here’s a selection of goggles to check out.
