If there’s one thing I hate, it’s standing around waiting in lines and according to this statistic, (which I’m unable to verify), the average person apparently “spends five years throughout their lifetime waiting in lines and queues.” RELATED: 10 Airport Security Hacks Every Traveler Needs to Know

Five years is a LONG time to spend waiting around and I think we all do everything we can to avoid long lines. It’s why ordering food and drinks via mobile apps is so popular and why many travelers apply for programs like TSA PreCheck, Global Entry and CLEAR – to shave wait times down, even if only by a few minutes.

But one mom, Lindsy Davigeadono, has a hilarious reason for not wanting to get TSA PreCheck, which all travelers know not only saves time waiting in lines but also makes the arduous airport security process easier.

But Lindsy’s reasoning has nothing to do with saving time. In the Instagram video, which you can watch below, she writes: “My husband kept telling me I needed to get TSA PreCheck before our family vacation with our 4 kids.” Her husband, who is filming, says, “Alright, there she is. Here’s the long line. Get TSA PreCheck.”

The line is long and it makes perfect sense that she should get TSA PreCheck to avoid the line and speed through security with her family, right? Wrong. The video goes on to show Lindsy waiting quite happily and quietly alone, scrolling on her phone without the worry and hassle of getting four kids through security.

“And yet here I am happily all alone for 35 minutes,” she writes as she waves to her family on the other side of security. The next shot shows her husband at security with all four of their children and all their bags. Lindsy writes, “Here he is helping all 4 kids through security alone. Pretty sure I’m not getting TSA PreCheck anytime soon.”

If you’re a parent, you can likely relate to Lindy’s thought process. Traveling with kids is no walk in the park and if you can sneak even five minutes alone without having to chase, corral or cajole your kids, it’s a win. It’s kind of like how I see going to the dentist these days. A whole hour lying down with my eyes closed with no one screaming, “Mom! I’m hungry!” or “Mom, where’s Bob?” or “Mom, can I watch Bluey, PPLLLLEEEAAASSE.” I mean, I may be at the dentist but somehow, it’s a break from the day-to-day madness. Suddenly, the drill in my mouth doesn’t really seem that bad.

And it seems like Lindsy’s not alone. One commenter said, “Yup. My husband finally booked my appointment for me hahahaha. He caught onto my game,” while another said, “I 100% understand this. Genius move.”

While I completely understand Lindsy’s feelings, TSA PreCheck can really come in handy, especially if you’re running late. And like TSA says, TSA PreCheck can help travelers “enjoy a smoother security screening process with no need to remove shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts or light jackets.” They also say that about 99% of TSA PreCheck passengers wait less than 10 minutes and that more than 200 airports and 90+ airlines provide TSA PreCheck.

But let’s be honest: Lindsy knows the benefits of TSA PreCheck but is choosing 35 minutes of peace and quiet instead – and who can blame her? It’s called self-care! However, if you’d rather speed through security, here’s how to make sure the TSA PreCheck checkmark is on your boarding pass.
